Insulting His Masterpiece

Recently I moved and was blessed to have a group of men and women who helped. If anyone has moved before, you know sometimes tensions can be high or you can feel like a chicken without a head, lol. Friday as we were making some last minute errands, I felt like if God cleaned out my ears really good that day, like there were some things He wanted me to hear. Let me back track just a little. I am doing a 31 day devotional on the Holy Spirit with a friend on the Bible App. In the devotional that morning it talked about the sins against the Holy Spirit. One in particular caught my eye- “Insulting Him” (Hebrews 10:29); it raised a question in my mind, what are some type of ways we as Christians insult God?
Okay so back to moving- as we finished up our errands making our way back to the apartment so that we could begin loading the truck. I felt the Holy Spirit grab my attention throughout the day to just listen to the conversations and the comments that were made around me. I couldn’t believe my ears, I had heard these comments and have even been a part of making them throughout my life, but that day I felt convicted. Ever have a child bring you a drawing they did. They are so happy with their work. You look at it and though it may be hard to make out what it is, lol, you say it’s beautiful! You wouldn’t ever tell that child that his or her work is ugly or that you hate it. You treat that drawing as if it was any other painting on your wall. Sadly we have treated God’s masterpiece with disgust, turned our faces at them, and constantly insult His work. It was becoming clear to me one of the ways we as Christians insult God. As the day went on, my mind started to be filled with God’s word. Verses like:
For we are God’s Masterpiece– (Eph. 2:10a NLT)
You made me; you created me– (Ps. 119:73a NLT)
So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.- (Gen. 1:27 NLT)
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous- how well I know it.– (Ps. 139: 14 NLT)
Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another– (Jam.4:11a NLT)
So how do we insult God and His masterpiece…. by talking ill or slandering each other. Let me explain a little more. I know most of us think this is harmless, and sometimes we do say these things in fun. But the fact of the matter is deep down and subconsicously we really believe what we are saying.
How many times have we all said things like: all men are dogs; women can’t drive; typical man, can’t do nothing on his own; women are so emotional and weak…. and so on and so on. Men and women for decades have been so negative with our words, putting labels on each other. We judge the whole gender for actions of one man or woman. Most of it comes from personal past experiences stemming from hurt. Whether it was the influence from the homes we grew up in, the roles we saw our parents take, a past relationship, or how society has depicted us. These may seem insignificant but to God we are insulting His masterpiece.
God has instructed us to speak words that edify, praise, strengthen, or build up those around us. When we speak the Word of God over or to someone, those words (Jesus) breathes life into them. When we speak life over someone, we act in wisdom. God wrote His word on our hearts and with his breath He called us by name. The words we speak need to represent the love we have for Christ. A recognition of praise to God for the beauty in who He has made us and called us to be. We are the product of His thoughts, words and hands. Seeing and treating brothers and sisters, man or woman different than that is insulting God’s Masterpiece.
The only group we should be putting man or woman in is…. we are the work of God, and when He made us, He said it is good. Brothers and sisters let us be more mindful of the words we are speaking to each other and about each group (man or woman). Of all the works God has done…. we, man and woman are considered His Masterpiece! You are loved.

Insultando A Su Obra Maestra
Tú me hiciste; me creaste.– (Salmos 119: 73a NTV)
Así que Dios creó a los seres humanos a su propia imagen. A imagen de Dios los creó;
Eres amado.

Whisper

And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.– 1 King 19:12 (NLT)

Do you ever wonder why God chose to speak to Elijah in a still small voice; a gentle whisper or even talk to us this way? Well, let’s think of the times when we whisper. Normally we whisper because we do not want anyone else to hear what we are saying except for the one we are speaking to. Sometimes we whisper because the atmosphere we are in requires it. Those are just a few common reasons, but what is most interesting is the position one needs to be in to be able to whisper and make sure that they are being heard and understood clearly.
In this story with Elijah there was wind, a blast, rocks falling, earthquake and fire, but God was not in any of those. He was found in a gentle whisper. Now it is obvious that we would be able to hear all those other sounds, shoot, I bet nearby towns heard them too, hahaha; but what about a gentle whisper? Only if you are close enough and paying attention would you be able to hear a gentle whisper.
So how do we hear the whisper of God? God draws us near to Him, be it through circumstances or life’s winding roads. He calls us into a deep intimate relationship with Himself. One that will cause us to be so close to our heavenly Father that He can lean over and whisper a word of encouragement, direction, comfort or peace. He longs for us to be near Him, so we can have daily conversations that only involves you and Him.

I always joke with God that I am Puerto Rican; we are loud,… and I am going to need Him to speak louder because that still small voice/ gentle whisper ain’t going to work, hahaha. I have come to learn in this walk with Him, that when I am in Him, and when I am found in His presence, He does not need to raise His voice because I am so close to Him I can feel Him breathing. When you think of it, a whisper is the perfect tone of voice to use. Can you hear His whisper? You are loved.

Susurro

Eres amado.
