Insulting His Masterpiece

Recently I moved and was blessed to have a group of men and women who helped. If anyone has moved before, you know sometimes tensions can be high or you can feel like a chicken without a head, lol. Friday as we were making some last minute errands, I felt like if God cleaned out my ears really good that day, like there were some things He wanted me to hear. Let me back track just a little. I am doing a 31 day devotional on the Holy Spirit with a friend on the Bible App. In the devotional that morning it talked about the sins against the Holy Spirit. One in particular caught my eye- “Insulting Him” (Hebrews 10:29); it raised a question in my mind, what are some type of ways we as Christians insult God?
Okay so back to moving- as we finished up our errands making our way back to the apartment so that we could begin loading the truck. I felt the Holy Spirit grab my attention throughout the day to just listen to the conversations and the comments that were made around me. I couldn’t believe my ears, I had heard these comments and have even been a part of making them throughout my life, but that day I felt convicted. Ever have a child bring you a drawing they did. They are so happy with their work. You look at it and though it may be hard to make out what it is, lol, you say it’s beautiful! You wouldn’t ever tell that child that his or her work is ugly or that you hate it. You treat that drawing as if it was any other painting on your wall. Sadly we have treated God’s masterpiece with disgust, turned our faces at them, and constantly insult His work. It was becoming clear to me one of the ways we as Christians insult God. As the day went on, my mind started to be filled with God’s word. Verses like:
For we are God’s Masterpiece– (Eph. 2:10a NLT)
You made me; you created me– (Ps. 119:73a NLT)
So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.- (Gen. 1:27 NLT)
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous- how well I know it.– (Ps. 139: 14 NLT)
Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another– (Jam.4:11a NLT)
So how do we insult God and His masterpiece…. by talking ill or slandering each other. Let me explain a little more. I know most of us think this is harmless, and sometimes we do say these things in fun. But the fact of the matter is deep down and subconsicously we really believe what we are saying.
How many times have we all said things like: all men are dogs; women can’t drive; typical man, can’t do nothing on his own; women are so emotional and weak…. and so on and so on. Men and women for decades have been so negative with our words, putting labels on each other. We judge the whole gender for actions of one man or woman. Most of it comes from personal past experiences stemming from hurt. Whether it was the influence from the homes we grew up in, the roles we saw our parents take, a past relationship, or how society has depicted us. These may seem insignificant but to God we are insulting His masterpiece.
God has instructed us to speak words that edify, praise, strengthen, or build up those around us. When we speak the Word of God over or to someone, those words (Jesus) breathes life into them. When we speak life over someone, we act in wisdom. God wrote His word on our hearts and with his breath He called us by name. The words we speak need to represent the love we have for Christ. A recognition of praise to God for the beauty in who He has made us and called us to be. We are the product of His thoughts, words and hands. Seeing and treating brothers and sisters, man or woman different than that is insulting God’s Masterpiece.
The only group we should be putting man or woman in is…. we are the work of God, and when He made us, He said it is good. Brothers and sisters let us be more mindful of the words we are speaking to each other and about each group (man or woman). Of all the works God has done…. we, man and woman are considered His Masterpiece! You are loved.

Insultando A Su Obra Maestra
Tú me hiciste; me creaste.– (Salmos 119: 73a NTV)
Así que Dios creó a los seres humanos a su propia imagen. A imagen de Dios los creó;
Eres amado.

Whisper

And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.– 1 King 19:12 (NLT)

Do you ever wonder why God chose to speak to Elijah in a still small voice; a gentle whisper or even talk to us this way? Well, let’s think of the times when we whisper. Normally we whisper because we do not want anyone else to hear what we are saying except for the one we are speaking to. Sometimes we whisper because the atmosphere we are in requires it. Those are just a few common reasons, but what is most interesting is the position one needs to be in to be able to whisper and make sure that they are being heard and understood clearly.
In this story with Elijah there was wind, a blast, rocks falling, earthquake and fire, but God was not in any of those. He was found in a gentle whisper. Now it is obvious that we would be able to hear all those other sounds, shoot, I bet nearby towns heard them too, hahaha; but what about a gentle whisper? Only if you are close enough and paying attention would you be able to hear a gentle whisper.
So how do we hear the whisper of God? God draws us near to Him, be it through circumstances or life’s winding roads. He calls us into a deep intimate relationship with Himself. One that will cause us to be so close to our heavenly Father that He can lean over and whisper a word of encouragement, direction, comfort or peace. He longs for us to be near Him, so we can have daily conversations that only involves you and Him.

I always joke with God that I am Puerto Rican; we are loud,… and I am going to need Him to speak louder because that still small voice/ gentle whisper ain’t going to work, hahaha. I have come to learn in this walk with Him, that when I am in Him, and when I am found in His presence, He does not need to raise His voice because I am so close to Him I can feel Him breathing. When you think of it, a whisper is the perfect tone of voice to use. Can you hear His whisper? You are loved.

Susurro

Eres amado.

Take Up Your Cross

Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.– Mark 8:34 (NLT)

Can we take another look at the cross but this time let’s look at it from a different angle. One of Jesus’ assignments was to give Himself up as a living sacrifice for our sins. Let’s take a moment and look at the journey. His assignment started off rough. He was dragged to jail in the middle of the night, questioned, smacked in the face, mocked, stuck with a crown of thorns, punched, flogged with a lead whip, betrayed, and humiliated before crowds. Then He was told to carry a cross that He would ultimately be crucified on.
Jesus journey to Calvary got worse and worse, with each step came another blow. To God it was obedience yet to man He was being punished. How many times something bad happens to us and right away people start saying God is punishing us for something we did. Hard times and situations are usually associated with disobedience but this was not the case. Jesus was in full submission and obedience to God. Sometimes in being obedient to God, our situations can become worse and worse, it is like the storm won’t let up. We can become discouraged, weak, feeling abandoned and alone, not to mention when we arrive we look beat up. This must of been what Jesus experienced, but He kept pushing forward. He had an assignment, and He was going to complete it at all cost. Not for His gain or benefit but for ours and to give God all the glory.
Beloved, don’t be afraid to “Pick Up Your Cross”, though the road that awaits you can seem long, lonely, dark and hard… persevere. In our walk we need to fully rely on God just as Christ did so that we to can give God all the glory he deserves and be the light to others along the way. Ultimately defeating Satan at every turn and putting him under our feet where he belongs. So let’s take up our cross and follow Jesus. You are loved.

Toma Tu Cruz

Eres amado.

In Love?

I love you! I love you too! We hear and say this so often but does anyone really know what love is?

This month we will see lots of movies describe what they believe to be “Love” or “In Love”. Stores will be flooded with flowers, hearts filled with candy and big stuffed animals with a heart saying “I love you”. Some believe being “In Love” is something that only happens once in a life time with your soul mate. We all want that, to “Love and Be Loved”; to feel wanted and chosen. We want to feel the warmth of a hug with no strings attached. We want to be told “I love you” and know it’s not just words. We like to feel special, so what does “Love” or being “In Love” look like? Is it having a boyfriend or a girlfriend? Or having a husband, a wife, or kids? Is it having a ministry in church? Maybe it’s having that career or job you always wanted. How about that car you saved up for that you can now show off in the driveway of your brand new house!

I hear a lot of people say: “I love them” but I am no longer “In Love” with them. How is it one can be “In Love” and then “Out of Love”? 1 John 4:7-8 tells us “God is Love”. If God is “Love”, then to be “In Love” or “Out of Love” is to be in Christ or not in Christ. When we answer the call to “Love” and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, scripture tells us that God comes and makes His home within us. “Love” in the most purest and holiest forms enters our very being allowing us to be “In Love”. God ask us to abide in Him and He in us. When we push God out and all that He stands for, we push out “Love”. You can not give or be what is not in you. There are so many broken relationships in this world because we have pushed God out. We think we are loving people but in reality we are loving them with our brokenness instead of the fullness of Jesus.

All of the materials things and blessings I mentioned are fine but if you have not “Love” you have nothing. Your identity will be swept away, but when God is in you and you are in Him then the name of Jesus defines you. God not only is “Love” but all that He does flows from “Love”. God is not asking us for something impossible, in fact He wants to fulfill our very hearts desire “to Love and Be Loved”. So how do we let God do this? We simple stay in the presence of God, allowing him to transform our minds, heal our hearts, change our worlds so that He can move and shine through us. Transforming us into His image>>—> “Love”. Love will no longer be a Day in February or a word just spoken… but who we are.

I guess the real question we need to ask ourselves is not “What is Love” but “Who is Love”? Do you know “Love”; are you “In Love”? You are loved.

7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.– 1 John 4:7-8 (NIV)

Estar Enamorado?

Transformándonos a Su imagen>>—> “Amor”.

He Still Reigns

Many of us have been through ups and downs, hard times and losses in this past year of 2020. 2020 as we stated in the beginning of the year is to look back on life to see where He has brought you from, so that you can trust Him to where He is taking you to. 2020 may not have gone the way some of us may have thought or wanted it to, but it did go exactly the way God wrote it. In Psalms 139- the word says that all of our days are written out before we live a single day, and every moment before we experience it. No matter what has happened in 2020… “God still reigns”.

He was not caught off by our circumstance, He was not shaken by a pandemic, He is not lost because of uncertainty with our presidency, nor is He hidden because of riots. God is God, He knows all things, is in all things, and has a plan for all things…good or bad. He knows the beginning from the end. He still sits on the throne. He is still the healer, the comforter, the way maker, the light, the way, the truth, the father to the fatherless, the husband to the widows, the lover of our souls. HE STILL REIGNS! Life may hit us hard but we get up, because His hand pulls us up. We may be lost, not understanding what is going on in our personal lives, but He lights the way for our feet as we walk by faith. HE STILL REIGNS! He may not tell you everything, surprises may arise in your life good or bad that you didn’t expect, but HE STILL REIGNS…. and we need to praise Him in all of it like He does reign. I didn’t say praise Him for it, but in it, because He is still worthy of ALL our praise. He is bigger than anything this world and life throws at us, He gave up everything for us, and for that alone He deserves it ALL. HE STILL REIGNS… so get up, push your chest out and tell 202ONE, here I come, the ONE I serve, my God… HE STILL REIGNS! You are loved.

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns!”– 1 Chronicles 16:31

Eres amado.

¡Alégrense los cielos, y regocíjese la tierra!
Digan las naciones: “¡El Señor reina!”
1 Crónicas 16:31

The Star

Have you ever gone outside on a dark night and just gazed up at the stars. They all seem so bright, like a blanket of lights covering the heavens, each one placed there purposely by God. The Bible says that Abraham’s descendants will be as numerous as the stars, we are those descendants. Each of us hand picked by God and purposely placed. We are not by accident, but each of us carefully thought of.

A Star can be symbolic of “Guidance” or “Protection”.

The word says “Jesus is our bright and morning star”, guiding us through the Holy Spirit into all truth. He promises to build a hedge of protection around us. In the book of John it says what is in the hands of God, can nothing touch it or take it out. To me a star is also confirmation- because 2000 years ago my God said that he would send His son into the world as a Savior. He did just that, the night our Savior was born, God perfectly placed a star in the sky announcing to the world ” The king was born”!! Hallelujah!

Beloved, the Gospel is this: “He has loved us with an everlasting love”! He loved us first! God in His love for us gives us “guidance”, “protection” and “Confirmation”. When God looks at His children, He sees a bright shining star in the midst of a dark and cold world. As we allow His light to shine in us today, we are announcing to the world “Jesus is the way”, come to Him today.

This Christmas whether you celebrate it with family and friends or by yourself know that “Emmanuel- God is with us” has hand picked you to be His. Will you accept?

You are loved.

And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts– 2 Peter 1:19 (NKJV)

Thankfulness

Thankfulness is gratitude of the heart. It is appreciation in it’s most authentic form. When we have a heart of thankfulness, it keeps us humble. It causes us to look outside ourselves and to see someone or something else other than our own lives and situations. We begin to see the efforts of people and how much they really invest in our lives. More importantly we begin to see the hand of God move in our lives in ways we never even noticed before, yet He has been there all along.
How many of you have been in a situation or a relationship of any kind, and you can feel a separation occurring that you didn’t plan or initiate? In the beginning it can be hard, scary, even hurtful, never realizing the hand of God has been orchestrating it all. The process can seem long, dark, and sometimes lonely, but in the end we look back and say “God, thank you”. When we look at that situation or relationship from a different angle and perspective, we can see how God was shielding us from greater pain and destruction.
One that I hope we can all relate to is the sacrifices of our parents. They are willing to go above and beyond for their children. From working two jobs so they can go to better schools. Moving, to take them out of a bad environment or staying up with them all night by their bedside to make sure their fever breaks. As we look back throughout our lives at our past, not to stay there, but to remind ourselves how truly blessed we are that God Himself placed a love so deep within their hearts for their children. We begin to develop a gratitude in our hearts and when we stand before God, what springs forth from our lips is “Thankfulness”.
Beloved God says come into His courts with praise and thanksgiving…. look beyond you, and I promise you that you will see the beauty of the Lord’s love for you, in extraordinary ways, through ordinary things….when you do, don’t forget to say “Thank you”. You are loved.

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonions 5:18 (NKJV)

Agradecimiento

Autumn Rains

Be glad, people of Zion, rejoice in the Lord your God,
for he has given you the autumn rains because he is faithful.
He sends you abundant showers, both autumn and spring rains,
as before.- Joel 2:23 (NIV)

Have you reached a place in your life that the dreams and goals place in your life seem to be dead? Have you come to a point in your life that all you can see is road blocks? Have you come to a point in your journey that you wonder what is the point?

I think we have all come to these crossroads at a point in our journeys, maybe some of you are there now. You think to yourself how much you have invested in these dreams, goals, and yet still don’t see anything. Or how much you have given up to pursue the vision God has given you, yet you still have not caught hold of it. You find yourself running toward the goal only to feel like you never truly left the spot your were standing in. It’s discouraging, disheartening, and brings one to the point of exhaustion.
Brothers and sisters, I believe God is telling us today, right now….. I am sending you Autumn Rains! Rain is needed for that which is planted to grow. We are in the season of Autumn, a season of harvest. Get up, pick up your tools, and go….. for the harvest is ready. God is faithful, what He has promised He will fulfill! He is sending an abundant of showers, there are several things in our lives that we are looking at dead and God is saying I am bringing life to it. This Autumn Rain that I am bringing is to bring forth all your steps of faith, your perseverance, all your fight, all your sacrifices to flourishion. I have seen you, and your harvest is here. I am your God who is faithful and who has done it before.
Brothers and Sisters, do not be discouraged or dismayed because dreams worth having, goals worth reaching, and vision worth carrying take time, and seed time is crucial to reach a harvest of abundance. Beloved go get your harvest! You are loved.

Te he visto y tu cosecha está aquí.

Eres amado.

Which Call Are You Answering?

What comes to mind when we hear the word call? Do you think of your mom or dad calling out to you? Or maybe you think of a roll call, awaiting your name. How about the sound of a ringing phone? What ever it may be, one thing we can agree on, it is a way to grab your attention. A way to single you out.

Every call can have a different connotation. Some calls make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. While others create butterflies in your stomach. There are some calls that we expect and are even willing to wait for. The call grabs our attention but what follows the call is what differentiates it from another.
Now a days there are so many things calling for our attention, be it friends, family, work, school, church, social media, and more. We often find ourselves trying to fit into each role and wear each hat. All the while loosing ourselves little by little. The weight of it all seems to get heavy, causing us to loose focus, not hearing “THE CALL”. God is calling each and everyone of us, in every season of our lives. When He calls you, He calls you with a purpose in mind. It is not our purpose but His.
How many remember the story of Samuel. The first time the Lord called Samuel he ran to Eli, but Eli did not call him. A second time the Lord called Samuel and again Samuel ran to Eli saying “here I am, you called me”. This happened 3 times and each time Eli replied the same way. Eli realized it must be God who is calling. Eli gives the boy specific instructions, when He calls again say: ” speak, for your servant is listening”. (found in 1 Samuel 3:1-10)
Samuel was a young boy. There is not one purpose we are to arrive at. The time is now, God is calling you today. Our role is to propel God’s purpose in what ever way, shape, or form He calls us to do that, using the gifts He has given us. Your call from God today maybe very different in a month, year, or even tomorrow. The point is to have a response like Samuel. We need to be alert, so when God calls us to an assignment that will bring Him glory, that will allow us to be the Salt and Light without even trying, we can say: “speak Lord, for your servant is listening.”
In a world were everything is so loud, and status is so important, we can loose sight of the greatest mission of all…..spreading the Gospel! God calls all those according to His purpose. I encourage you beloved, answer the call, and propel God’s purpose. Stop waiting for this one day to finally know your purpose, because God’s purpose and plan has already been put into action and He want you to be a part of it. You are loved.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.- Romans 8:28 (NIV)

¿A Qué Llamada Estás Respondiendo?

Who Do You Say I Am?

29 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.”- Mark 8:29 (NIV)

Have you ever just taken a moment to sit back and really ask yourself that question…. Who do I say God is? This past week in my alone time with God, I too was asked this question within my spirit. Jesus asked Peter “but who do you say I am”? Peter gave the correct answer, he said “you are the Messiah”. What if we take it a little deeper. If we had to describe Jesus to someone, I think we all would do a pretty good job. But how about when we are going through a tough time in our lives. When things are falling apart and we can not make sense of them. Or when we loose a loved one so early in life. How about when there is just one storm after another and you barely can keep your head afloat, “who do you say He is”. This is not about answering the question for others but rather for yourself. In those moments things can get very dark and blurry, but who God is in our lives should always be clear. So maybe in that moment when you lost a love one, you are reminded that God is the God of the brokenhearted. It no longer is just a verse or a way to describe Him. No, it now is who He is in your life. Maybe you loose your job and wonder how you are going to pay your bills, you are reminder about the story in Matthew chapter 6 about the sparrow. It no longer is just a cute story you heard growing up but now it is your reality. Maybe God removes all of your dreams, desires and the plans that went along with them. You are reminded of Isaiah 43: 18-19, where He says forget the former things, do not dwell on the past, I am doing a new thing. It no longer is a great verse but your experience with Him. Maybe you are in a really uncomfortable situation and you can’t escape it, He reminds you of Isaiah 26:3, I will keep you in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on me because they trust me. You no longer are in an uncomfortable situation but one with purpose, causing you to focus and be the light to others who may be in the same unescapable setting.
I challenge you to ask yourself daily as you go through life, when things arise good or bad…. Who do I say God is in this situation? Stop and take a moment in those times and evaluate yourselves, “am I allowing God to be who He says He is in this moment or are my actions saying something different”? I am sure we can look back throughout our lives and see how God has been our Redeemer, Savior, Refuge, Waymaker, Peace Maker, Healer, Deliverer, our Comforter, our Provision and so much more. Today allow God to show you who He is so that you may Know who He is, and it not just be a story or great verse you read. You are loved.

Eres amado.
