There’s a story of a pastor who when he was preaching well, an elderly lady in the congregation would yell, “help us Lord!”, but when he was flunking in his preaching the lady would yell, “help him Lord!” There are much better ways on how the many in the pew can help the one in the pulpit. Lets start this new year off right by bringing the best help and encouragement we can to our pastor, here’s some tips on how…
Pray
One of the most beautiful things to know about our pastor is that he prays for you; continually and consistently. When we go to our prayer closets why not pray for our Pastor and his busy schedule, his family, etc.? I’m sure this right here would encourage and help him ALOT.
Attend
Pastor H.B. Charles Jr. once said, “We try to reach people on Sunday mornings. The world tries to reach them all the rest of the week. The gravitational pull is against the things of God. And the pastor often feels he is not making a difference.” Lets aim to attend Sunday services consistently showing our Pastor that these Sundays are making a difference in our week.
Listen
Lets keep it real, I know there are times during pastors preachings you have the temptation to doze off into La-La Land or doze off into your own little world on your phone (I am guilty of that crime). Lets aim to keep our eyes focused and ears attentive on his Sunday sermons…maybe even keep our fingers moving with a pen and paper?
Love
Just love on him. Either it be taking him out for lunch or just an encouraging word you want to bring to Pastor or even just tell him that you love him and are grateful for all he does, just do it.
Understand
Pastor is not God. He is human just like us, He is a sinner just like us, he fails people just like us. So understand that if you feel like Pastor has failed you by him either not returning your calls/texts or he didn’t say “Hi” to you at church, don’t condemn and judge the man so quickly, UNDERSTAND, he is human just like us. Just like God gave you and gives you grace and mercy, give him grace and mercy.
Join
I love the movie series The Hunger Games (I haven’t read the books yet because I’m lazy, but I’ve heard they’re better) because its about a remnant leading a rebellion to bring a revolution; “Join the movement!” Nothing else would bring joy to Pastors heart than to see his congregation join his movement, join a ministry, play a part in his vision, step on the field and leave it on the field. If an opportunity arises where you can do this, then do it! Even if your scared, because as Pastors wife likes to say, “if your scared, good, do it scared!”

Una de las cosas más hermosas que debe saber acerca de nuestro Pastor es que él ora por usted; Continuamente y consistentemente. Cuando vamos a nuestras recamaras de oración ¿por qué no orar por nuestro Pastor y su apretada agenda, por su familia, etc.? Estoy seguro de que esto lo animaría y le ayudaría MUCHO.
Asistir
El Pastor H.B. Charles Jr una vez dijo, “Tratamos de alcanzar a la gente los domingos por la mañana. El mundo trata de alcanzarlos a ellos todo el resto de la semana. Escuchar
Vamos hacer realistas, sé que hay veces en las predicaciones de los Pastores que tenemos la tentación de estar en las nubes o estar en su mundo de ensueño o en su teléfono (soy culpable de ese crimen). Vamos a mantener nuestros ojos enfocados y los oídos atentos a las predicaciones del domingo … tal vez incluso mantener nuestros dedos moviéndose con una pluma y papel?
Amar
Sólo amarlo él. O si es sacandolo para almorzar o simplemente darle una palabra alentadora que quiere decirle al Pastor o simplemente decirle que le amas y estás agradecido por todo lo que hace, solo hazlo.
Entender
El Pastor no es Dios. Él es humano como nosotros, es un pecador como nosotros, falla a la gente como nosotros. Así que entiende que si te sientes como que el Pastor le ha fallado en no devolver sus llamadas / textos o no le dijo “Hola” a usted en la iglesia, no condene ni juzgue al hombre tan rápidamente, ENTIENDA, que el es humano justo como nosotros. Así como Dios te dio y te da gracia y misericordia, dadle gracia y misericordia.
Unirse
Me encanta la serie de películas The Hunger Games (todavía no he leído los libros porque soy perezoso, pero he oído que son mejores) porque se trata de un remanente que comienza una rebelión para traer una revolución; “Únete al movimiento!” Nada más traería alegría al corazón de los Pastores que ver a su congregación unirse a su movimiento, participar en su visión, participar en un ministerio, pisar el campo y dejarlo en el campo. Si surge una oportunidad en la que puede hacer esto, ¡hágalo! Incluso si con miedo, porque como la esposa del Pastor le gusta decir, “si tienes miedo, bueno, hazlo con miedo!”
