Recently I went through a rough moment in my walk with God. I felt as though I was stuck. Like no matter what I did, I was still in the same place. I wasn’t doing bad things, in fact I was doing just the opposite. You know the things we know to do, to help our relationship with Christ grow. I was reading, praying, and spending intimate time with my heavenly father, but something was off. Though I could still hear Him speaking to me here and there, it wasn’t as clear. My hope was fading. I was finding it hard to hold on to His promises. The waiting can sometimes cause these moments of despair.

But God….. I love that phrase….. He meets you where you are at. He speaks to your despairs, doubts, fears, and insecurities. The past few weeks God has spoken to me through preachings, songs, people, and devotionals. It wasn’t so much the methods that He used to speak to me, or what they even said, but the extent He went through to refresh my soul. That is the God we serve, He speaks to our pain and confusion. He has grace with us. He knows that His plans can sometimes be scary to us, especially when we do not know what lies ahead. He encourages us to hold on and trust Him.

God never condemns us and neither should we with those who come to us the same way. Sometimes as Christians our response can be so condemning, or we throw lots of scripture at the person, making them feel even worse. When really all they want is for someone to say I hear you; I understand; I have been there. Meet them where our heavenly father meets us, He meets us in the heart of those moments, and then lovingly walks us out of them together.

So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
– Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

“Te encontraré allí”

Recientemente pasé por un momento difícil en mi camino con Dios. Me sentí como si estuviera atascada. No importando lo que hiciera, todavía estaba en el mismo lugar. No estaba haciendo cosas malas, de hecho estaba haciendo todo lo contrario. Usted sabe las cosas que sabemos hacer para ayudar a que nuestra relación con Cristo crezca. Estaba leyendo, orando y pasando tiempo íntimo con mi Padre Celestial, pero algo estaba diferente. Aunque todavía podía escucharlo hablarme aquí y allá, no estaba tan claro. Mi esperanza se estaba desvaneciendo. Me resultaba difícil agarrame de Sus promesas. La espera a veces puede causar estos momentos de desesperación.

Pero Dios ….. Me encanta esa frase ….. Él te encuentra donde estás. Él habla de tus desesperaciones, dudas, miedos e inseguridades. En las últimas semanas, Dios me ha hablado a través de predicaciones, canciones, personas y devocionales. No era tanto por los métodos que solía hablarme, ni lo que incluso decían, sino la medida por la que pasó para refrescar mi alma. Ese es el Dios al que servimos, Él moverá el cielo y la tierra para alcanzarnos, Él habla de nuestro dolor y confusión. Él tiene gracia con nosotros. Él sabe que Sus planes a veces pueden darnos miedo, especialmente cuando no sabemos lo que nos espera. Él nos anima a aferrarnos y confiar en Él.

Dios nunca nos condena y tampoco debemos hacerlo con aquellos que vienen a nosotros de la misma manera. A veces, como cristianos, nuestra respuesta puede ser tan condenatoria, o arrojamos muchas escrituras a la persona, haciéndola sentir aún peor. Cuando realmente todo lo que quieren es que alguien diga que te escucho, entiendo, he estado allí. Encuéntralos donde nuestro Padre Celestial se encuentra con nosotros, Él nos encuentra en el corazón de esos momentos, y luego con amor nos saca de ellos, juntamente.

Así que no temas, porque yo estoy contigo;
no te angusties, porque yo soy tu Dios.
Te fortaleceré y te ayudaré;
te sostendré con mi diestra victoriosa.

The Resurrection

We All know the story of Lazarus and how he died. Jesus didn’t go see him until after he had been dead for 4 days. Martha comes running to Jesus and says “Lord if only you had been here my brother would not have died”. Jesus responded to her ” I am the resurrection and the life”. Later on in the story Jesus shouted “Lazarus, come out!” And the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound in grave clothes, his face wrapped in headcloth. Jesus told them, “Unwrap him and let him go!”

(John 11:21; 25; 43-44 NLT)

One of the things that stood out to me the most was how Jesus calls Lazarus by name out of the tomb but then it says a dead man came out. Though Lazarus came out of the tomb he was still bound by graveclothes. To many he seemed as though he had come back to life but Jesus knew that he was still bound and dead. He orders the people to remove the grave clothes from his hands, feet, and head. What does that mean to us today? How many of us has God called from the grave? How many dreams and desires have we buried? Lazarus was wrapped from head to toe in gravecloth, so why was Jesus only concerned about loosening his hands, feet and unwrapping his head? Those 3 things are the most important because we are the hands and feet of God, to do His great work in the earth. The most important of the 3 is the head. Our minds need to be transformed to take God at his word and believe all that He reveals to us. Jesus says in this passage “Unwrap him and let him go!” No one was holding Lazarus, so to who was Jesus saying, ” let him go”? I believe that Jesus in that moment was talking to the lies of the enemy, the words of others and the stains of our past. Jesus was not just the resurrection all those years ago, but He is the resurrection to us today. God can call us from the grave but if we do not put our full trust in Christ and believe every word He says, then our hands and feet are still bound and our minds are not alive in Christ. Some of those dreams and desires we have let die or have called dead because we may not feel good enough or feel to much time has passed, God is calling them by name back to life. Brothers and sisters God is calling each of us from the grave by name. He wants to resurrect those things that He has placed within you, no matter how long it has been. He wants to use you to be His hands and feet. God wants to bring and can bring life to anyone or any situation we call dead. Seek Him this very day and let Him be the resurrection in every area of your life.

“La Resurrección”

Todos conocemos la historia de Lázaro y cómo murió. Jesús no fue a verlo hasta después de que había estado muerto por 4 días. Marta viene corriendo hacia Jesús y le dijo: “Señor, si tan solo hubieras estado aquí, mi hermano no habría muerto”. Jesús le respondió: “Yo soy la resurrección y la vida”. Más adelante en la historia, Jesús gritó “¡Lázaro, sal de ahí!” Y el muerto salió de la tumba, con las manos y los pies envueltos con vendas de entierro y la cabeza enrollada en un lienzo. Jesús les dijo: “¡Quítenle las vendas y déjalo ir!”

Una de las cosas que más me llamó la atención fue cómo Jesús llama a Lázaro por su nombre desde la tumba, pero luego dice que salió un hombre muerto. Aunque Lázaro salió de la tumba, todavía estaba atado por ropa de sepultura. Para muchos, parecía que había vuelto a la vida, pero Jesús sabía que todavía estaba atado y muerto. Ordena a la gente que se quite la ropa de la tumba de sus manos, pies y cabeza. Qué significa eso para nosotros hoy? A cuántos de nosotros ha llamado Dios desde la tumba? Cuántos sueños y deseos hemos enterrado? Lázaro estaba envuelto de la cabeza a los pies con una tela de sepultura, entonces, por qué a Jesús solo le preocupaba soltarse las manos, los pies y desenvolverse la cabeza? Esas 3 cosas son las más importantes porque somos las manos y los pies de Dios, para hacer su gran obra en la tierra. El más importante de los 3 es la cabeza. Nuestras mentes necesitan ser transformadas para tomar a Dios en su palabra y creer todo lo que Él nos revela. Jesús dice en este pasaje “¡Desenvolver a él y déjalo ir!” Nadie sostenía a Lázaro, entonces, a quién le estaba diciendo Jesús, “déjalo ir”? Creo que Jesús en ese momento estaba hablando de las mentiras del enemigo, las palabras de los demás y las manchas de nuestro pasado. Jesús no fue solo la resurrección hace tantos años atrás, sino que es la resurrección para nosotros hoy. Dios puede llamarnos desde la tumba, pero si no confiamos plenamente en Cristo y creemos cada palabra que Él dice, nuestras manos y pies aún están atados y nuestras mentes no están vivas en Cristo. Algunos de esos sueños y deseos que hemos dejado morir o que hemos llamado muertos porque puede que no nos sintamos lo suficientemente bien o sentimos que ha pasado mucho tiempo, Dios los está llamando por su nombre a la vida. Hermanos y hermanas, Dios nos llama a cada uno de nosotros desde la tumba por su nombre. Él quiere resucitar esas cosas que ha colocado dentro de ti, no importa cuánto tiempo haya pasado. Él quiere usarte para ser Sus manos y pies. Dios quiere traer y puede traer vida a cualquiera o cualquier situación que llamemos muertos. Búscalo a Él hoy en día y déjalo ser la resurrección en cada área de tu vida.

Years ago I remember asking God to explain how they are 3 in 1? This is what I felt the Spirit showing me in the most simplest of forms. Close your eyes and imagine this for a moment. God is the brain, Jesus is the heart, and the Holy Spirit is the soul. You can have a healthy heart and brain but if you remove the soul you die. You can have a healthy soul and heart but if you remove the brain you die, and so forth. They are 3 vital parts of the body that can not function one without the other, yet equally important. So why is it we do not give the Holy Spirit His rightful place. We treat Him as third in line or some ghost floating around. He wasn’t just the connection between God and Jesus, He is God. Jesus isn’t just God’s son but the very heart of God. In the book of Matthew God says out of the abundance of the mouth the heart speaks. In Ezekiel God says I will remove your heart of stone and put in a heart of flesh and I will breathe my Spirit into you. In the book of John it says if you believe in Jesus then God will come to live inside of you. The word says that when we accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit. The Bible says it over and over again that we are the body of Christ.

You see when we accept the call and surrender our lives to Christ we become a dwelling place for the Lord, a modern day ark of the covenant. Our body is the Lord’s temple. God is not distant from us, sitting alone on His throne. He is within us, Jesus is within us, the Holy Spirit is within us. In the book of Deuteronomy and Matthew it says love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul. How do we do that, by having an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. The Bible says the Holy Spirit will testify of Jesus Christ in your life and give God the glory due Him. In the book of John 17- Jesus states Father I have given you glory because I have done what you have asked. God is not a God who is far away but walks and talks with us daily, instructing us in His statues. Jesus is not simply the gate way to God, but every time we read the word of God we are speaking the name of Jesus. It is like God in His greatness and fullness let us see the intent of His heart and thoughts. How many times do we say we know God but yet leave one of them out, or count one more important than the other. You know how Jesus was able to give God glory with His life, because He was obedient to everything the Spirit led Him to. Obedience pleases God and puts us in right standing with Him. An intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit changes God from just being in heaven, sitting on a throne to being a father that we know very well because our relationship goes beyond the surface.

Take time today and daily to spend intimate time with our Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Allow your body to be a welcoming place for them. When we allow the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to have their way in our lives, our body becomes a house of worship. Matthew 22:37 becomes evident in our lives without any effort really on our part, but us simply submitting to the leading of the Holy Spirit. The affect however is great! This is where the light of Jesus shines through us and people beginning to recognize that their is a God who loves them very much. Let your heart, mind, and soul be a reflection of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in who’s image we are made.

3-en-1

Hace años, recuerdo haberle pedido a Dios que explicara cómo son 3 en 1. Esto es lo que sentí que el Espíritu me mostraba en la forma más simple. Cierra los ojos e imagina esto por un momento. Dios es el cerebro, Jesús es el corazón y el Espíritu Santo es el alma. Puede tener un corazón y un cerebro sanos, pero si elimina el alma, muere. Puede tener un alma y un corazón sanos, pero si elimina el cerebro, muere, y así sucesivamente. Son 3 partes vitales del cuerpo que no pueden funcionar una sin la otra, pero igualmente importantes. Entonces, ¿por qué no le damos al Espíritu Santo el lugar que le corresponde? Lo tratamos como el tercero en la fila o como un fantasma flotando. Él no era solo la conexión entre Dios y Jesús, Él es Dios. Jesús no solo es la puerta a Dios, sino que son el corazón de Dios. En el libro de Mateo, Dios dice que de la abundancia de la boca habla el corazón. En Ezequiel, Dios dice que removeré tu corazón de piedra y pondré un corazón de carne y respiraré mi Espíritu en ti. En el libro de Juan dice que si crees en Jesús, Dios vendrá a vivir dentro de ti. La palabra dice que cuando aceptamos a Jesús como nuestro Señor y Salvador personal, estamos sellados con el Espíritu Santo. La Biblia lo dice una y otra vez que somos el cuerpo de Cristo.

Cuando aceptamos el llamado y entregamos nuestras vidas a Cristo, nos convertimos en una morada para el Señor, un arca moderna del pacto. Nuestro cuerpo es el templo del Señor. Dios no está lejos de nosotros, sentado solo en su trono. Él está dentro de nosotros, Jesús está dentro de nosotros, el Espíritu Santo está dentro de nosotros. En el libro de Deuteronomio y Mateo dice ama al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, mente y alma. ¿Cómo hacemos eso al tener una relación íntima con el Espíritu Santo? La Biblia dice, que el Espíritu Santo testifica de Jesucristo en su vida, y le dará a Dios la gloria que le corresponde. En el libro de Juan 17- Jesús dice Padre: te he dado gloria porque he hecho lo que me has pedido. Dios no es un Dios que está lejos, pero camina y habla con nosotros diariamente, instruyendonos en sus estatuas. Jesús no es simplemente la puerta de entrada a Dios, sino que cada vez que leemos la palabra de Dios estamos hablando el nombre de Jesús. Es como Dios en su grandeza y plenitud, veamos la intención de su corazón y sus pensamientos. ¿Cuántas veces decimos que conocemos a Dios, pero dejamos a uno de ellos afuera, o contamos uno más importante que el otro? Usted sabe cómo Jesús pudo darle gloria a Dios con su vida, porque fue obediente a todo lo que el Espíritu lo guió. La obediencia agrada a Dios y nos coloca en una posición correcta con Él. Una relación íntima con el Espíritu Santo cambia a Dios de solo estar en el cielo sentado en un trono, a ser un padre que conocemos muy bien porque nuestra relación va más allá de la superficie.

Tómese el tiempo hoy y diariamente para pasar tiempo íntimo con nuestro Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo. Permita que su cuerpo sea un lugar acogedor para ellos. Cuando permitimos que el Padre, el Espíritu Santo y el Hijo se salgan con la suya en nuestras vidas, nuestro cuerpo se convierte en una casa de adoración. Mateo 22:37 se hace evidente en nuestras vidas sin ningún esfuerzo realmente de nuestra parte, sino simplemente sometiendonos a la dirección del Espíritu Santo. ¡Sin embargo, el efecto es genial! Aquí es donde la luz de Jesús brilla a través de nosotros y las personas comienzan a reconocer que hay un Dios que los ama mucho. What are your Peace Stealers?

I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart.- John 14:27a (NLT)

What are the things that are stealing your peace? Not just in this quarantine time with the corona virus but throughout your life up until this very moment that you are reading this blog. I know for me at times it can be thinking of how my future can be different than my present. For you it can be very different. Some peace stealers can be your financial state, medical state, relationships or lack of one, school loans, unsaved family members, the list goes on. We know that satan’s main purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy. He wants to steal our peace, to kill our joy, and to destroy any hope that we have. He tells us lies that can make us worry or doubt our very God who is in control, and who has every detail figured out. Take a moment and truly think what you are thinking about. Pay attention to those thoughts that change your mood from good to bad. What conversations in your head are you entertaining? Those are the thoughts that you need to watch out for, we need to take them captive and submit them to the obedience of Jesus Christ. Be careful not to allow your thoughts to take you down a road God did not pave for you. God tells us in this verse above that peace of mind and heart are a gift from Him, just like our very life is a gift. Enjoy and rest in the gifts He has given us. As I mentioned in the last blog, Phil. 4:6-7 promises that He will give us a peace that will guard our hearts and minds. Brothers and Sisters I encourage you today to stay focused on Jesus and to not allow your thoughts to have more power than what God says and thinks of you or for you. You are loved.

¿Cuáles Son Tus Ladrones De Paz?

¿Cuáles son las cosas que te están robando la paz? No solo en este tiempo de cuarentena con el corona virus sino a lo largo de su vida hasta el momento en que está leyendo este blog. Lo sé por mí, a veces sé que puede estar pensando en cómo mi futuro puede ser diferente a mi presente. Para ti puede ser muy diferente. Algunos ladrones de paz pueden ser su estado financiero, estado médico, relaciones o falta de uno, préstamos escolares, miembros de la familia que no se salvos, la lista continúa. Sabemos que el propósito principal de Satanás es robar, matar y destruir. Quiere robar nuestra paz, matar nuestra alegría y destruir cualquier esperanza que tengamos. Nos dice mentiras que pueden hacernos preocupar o dudar de nuestro Dios que tiene el control y que tiene todos los detalles resueltos. Tómese un momento y piense realmente en lo que está pensando. Presta atención a esos pensamientos que cambian tu estado de ánimo de bueno a malo. ¿Qué conversaciones en tu cabeza estás entreteniendo? Esos son los pensamientos que debes tener cuidado con, tenemos que llevarlos cautivos y someterlos a la obediencia de Jesucristo. Tenga cuidado de no permitir que sus pensamientos lo llevan por un camino que Dios no le allanó por ti. Dios nos dice en este versículo anterior que la paz en la mental y en el corazón son un regalo de Él, al igual que nuestra vida es un regalo. Disfruta y descansa en los regalos que nos ha dado. Como mencioné en el último blog, Fil. 4: 6-7 promete que nos dará una paz que protegerá nuestros corazones y nuestras mentes. Hermanos y hermanas, les animo hoy a mantenerse enfocados en Jesús y no permitir que sus pensamientos tengan más poder que lo que Dios dice y piensa de ustedes o por ustedes. Eres amado.

Anx”I”ety- A Silent Killer

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. –

Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)

Recently in one of my life groups the leader was talking on the topic of anxiety. As the group began to share, I realized that anxiety can come so subtly. Most people wouldn’t consider themselves to be an anxious person but I do believe we have all crossed that line from wondering about something, to letting those thoughts consume us. This is were anxiety creeps in, we do not even realized it is happening because it seems so normal. Anxiety comes when we focus so much on the “how”, “if”, and “when” of the things we are believing God for that we can actually worry ourselves right out of faith. A lot of times it doesn’t start out like that, we go to God because we truly believe He can do and fulfill anything we ask. But to often in our curiousness of “how”, the wondering of “if”, and expectantancy of “when”, we slowly loose focus of Him. We begin to exchange the truth of who God is and replace it with worry and doubt. If we look at Anxiety, the letter that is exactly in the middle is “I”. Anxiety causes us to focus on self and what we can do, than on the God who is able. God is “I AM” yet we rather go with our anxious thoughts and feelings instead of standing on His word. In this verse we see that when we feel anxious, it’s an invitation to go to God in prayer once again, an opportunity to thank God in advance, redirecting our thoughts. Anxiety is a silent killer that will make you doubt the very God who can do the impossible in His perfect timing. The verse that follows says: God’s peace WILL transcends ALL understanding and WILL guard our “hearts” and “minds” in Christ Jesus. Not maybe, not probably but WILL. Don’t allow your thoughts to drag you into anxiety, remember that God has every detail of your life figured out including the “how”, the “if”, and the “when”. Be encouraged beloved.

Ansiedad- Un Asesino Silencioso

6 No se inquieten por nada; más bien, en toda ocasión, con oración y ruego, presenten sus peticiones a Dios y denle gracias. 7 Y la paz de Dios, que sobrepasa todo entendimiento, cuidará sus corazones y sus pensamientos en Cristo Jesús.–

Recientemente, en uno de mis grupos de vida, el líder estaba hablando sobre el tema de la ansiedad. Cuando el grupo comenzó a compartir, me di cuenta de que la ansiedad puede venir tan sutilmente. La mayoría de la gente no se consideraría una persona ansiosa, pero creo que todos hemos cruzado esa línea desde preguntarnos algo hasta dejar que esos pensamientos nos consuman. Esto es donde la ansiedad se arrastra, ni siquiera nos dimos cuenta de que está sucediendo porque parece muy normal. La ansiedad llega cuando nos enfocamos tanto en el “cómo”, “si” y “cuándo” de las cosas en las que creemos a Dios, nos preocupamos tanto, hasta perder la fe. Muchas veces no comienza así, vamos a Dios porque realmente creemos que Él puede hacer y cumplir todo lo que le pedimos. Pero a menudo en nuestra curiosidad de “cómo”, el asombro de “si” y la expectativa de “cuándo” lentamente perdemos el foco de Él. Comenzamos a intercambiar la verdad de quién es Dios y la reemplazamos con preocupación y duda. Si nos fijamos en la ansiedad, la letra que está exactamente en el medio es “I”. La ansiedad nos hace centrarnos en uno mismo y en lo que podemos hacer, que en el Dios que puede. Dios es “YO SOY”, sin embargo, preferimos ir con nuestros pensamientos y sentimientos ansiosos en lugar de pararse en Su palabra. En este versículo vemos que cuando nos sentimos ansiosos, es una invitación a ir a Dios en oración una vez más, una oportunidad para agradecerle a Dios de antemano, redirigiendo nuestros pensamientos. La ansiedad es un asesino silencioso que te hará dudar del mismo Dios que puede hacer lo imposible en su momento perfecto. El siguiente versículo dice: la paz de Dios volverá trasciende TODO entendimiento y guardará nuestros “corazones” y “mentes” en Cristo Jesús. Tal vez no, probablemente no, PERO SÍ. No permita que sus pensamientos los lleven a la ansiedad, recuerde que Dios tiene cada detalle de su vida resuelto, incluido el “cómo”, el “si” y el “cuándo”. Anímate amado.

In The Midst

Have you been in a bad situation and feel so confused, worried, not sure what to do? Your mind starts to wonder, and you begin to think of all the worst scenarios possible, but then we receive good news and begin to praise God for His goodness. We all have been there, but what if we could avoid all the stress, confusion, worry and doubt. Wouldn’t you want to be able to bypass all of that and go right to God’s goodness?

Paul and Silas did. They were in jail, beaten, chained, cold and hungry. As they looked around, they were surrounded by the same misery, but something was different about them. Paul and Silas decided not to wait for God to deliver them to praise Him, but in the midst of their circumstances they began to worship God. Something amazing happened. The chains fell off, the doors of the jail were opened, not by humans hands but by the very hand of God. Paul and Silas situation did not change but their mindset did. They were free! See when we worship in the midst of our storms we put ourselves in a position of surrender. When we worship God in the midst of our trials we remind Satan “This battle too has already been won”. When we worship we stretch our arms out to God and He picks us up like a father does to his child and calms us. There is this saying “There are times God will calm the storm but there are times He will calm the sailor in the storm.” When we praise God in our tribulations we allow others the ability to see God.

Those chains that came off that day in jail may have been physical but they are a reminder to us today that we too can be set free from whatever chains are keeping us bound. Worship confuses the enemy and destroys his plans. The chains of fear, doubt, confusion, worry, insecurities, they have no power. We tell Satan “I worship God not because of what He gives me but because of who He is.”

En El Medio

¿Has estado en una mala situación y te sientes tan confundido, preocupado, no estás seguro de qué hacer? Tu mente comienza a preguntarse y comienzas a pensar en los peores escenarios posibles; pero luego recibimos buenas noticias y comenzamos a alabar a Dios por su bondad. Todos hemos estado allí, pero … ¿y si pudiéramos evitar todo el estrés, la confusión, la preocupación y la duda? ¿No le gustaría poder evitar todo eso e ir directamente a la bondad de Dios?

Pablo y Silas lo hicieron. Estaban en la cárcel, golpeados, encadenados, fríos y hambrientos. Mientras miraban a su alrededor, estaban rodeados de la misma miseria, pero había algo diferente en ellos. Pablo y Silas decidieron no esperar a que Dios los entregue para alabarlo, pero en medio de sus circunstancias comenzaron a adorar a Dios. Algo asombroso sucedió. Las cadenas se cayeron, las puertas de la cárcel se abrieron, no por manos humanas, sino por la mano de Dios. La situación de Pablo y Silas no cambió, pero su mentalidad sí. Eran libres! Cuando adoramos en medio de nuestras tormentas nos ponemos en una posición de rendición. Cuando adoramos a Dios en medio de nuestras pruebas, le recordamos a Satanás “Esta batalla también ya ha sido ganada”. Cuando adoramos, estiramos nuestros brazos hacia Dios y Él nos levanta como un padre lo hace con su hijo y los calma. Hay un dicho que dice: “Hay momentos en que Dios calmará la tormenta, pero a veces calmará al marinero en la tormenta”. Cuando alabamos a Dios en nuestras tribulaciones, les permitimos a otros la capacidad de ver a Dios.

Esas cadenas que salieron ese día en la cárcel pueden haber sido físicas, pero hoy nos recuerdan que nosotros también podemos ser liberados de las cadenas que nos mantienen atados. La adoración confunde al enemigo y destruye sus planes. Las cadenas del miedo, la duda, la confusión, la preocupación, las inseguridades, no tienen poder. Le decimos a Satanás “Yo adoro a Dios no por lo que Él me da, sino por quién es Él”.

2020 Vision

The New Year is here!!! It’s my favorite holiday! We have heard the saying “yesterday is gone, and tomorrow is not promised, only today.” As true as that statement is, I love a New Year because it really does start everything in some sense all over. Just to start, you get a brand new set of 365 days and get to redo the holidays all over again. Most people take this time to reflect on the past year, this reflection normally starts in December so that by the New Year they have a clear vision. We reflect on the things we wanted to do but couldn’t or didn’t. Some look at relationships they have, be it friendships, parenting, or being in love, etc. We start to evaluate our life, a spring cleaning if you will, what stays and what goes. There are things in our lives that are just a distraction and relationships that are going nowhere. There are those we will bring into the New Year with us and those that we will leave behind this coming year.

Let’s be honest we all secretly make a “New Year Resolution List” be it on paper or in our hearts, some even go as far as making a dream board. We start to jot down all the things we want to accomplish in the New Year. Things like: the amount of weight we want to lose or gain, the promotion we want in work, going back to school, moving into a new place, down to the day we meet our true love. It’s good to sit back every now and then and reflect on our lives so that we can have a clear vision for the future. However, it is not until we are reflecting back on the year that is to end, that we can really see everything so clearly, giving us 20/20 vision. Looking forward gives us another year of opportunity to see God’s hand once again at work – making the impossible possible, turning our sorrows into joy, removing our plans only to replace them with the best of His. A New Year with 20/20 vision starts with a God who already has a perfect plan, to give us a future and hope. We may not understand the path He will choose for us in this coming year but know that God’s vision is never blurred.

Visión 2020

Año Nuevo está aquí! ¡Es mi día feriado favorito! Hemos escuchado el dicho “ayer se fue, y mañana no se promete, solo hoy.” Tan cierto como esa declaración es, me encanta un Año Nuevo porque realmente nos permite tener un nuevo comienzo en algún sentido. Solo para comenzar, obtienes un nuevo conjunto de 365 días y puedes rehacer todas los días feriados. La mayoría de las personas se toman este tiempo para reflexionar sobre el año pasado, esta reflexión normalmente comienza en Diciembre, por lo que para el Año Nuevo tengan una visión clara. Reflexionamos sobre las cosas que queríamos hacer pero que no pudimos o no hicimos. Algunos miran las relaciones que tienen, ya sea amistad, paternidad o estar enamorado, etc. Comenzamos a evaluar nuestra vida, una limpieza de primavera si lo desea, lo que queda y lo que se va. Hay cosas en nuestras vidas que son solo una distracción y relaciones que no van a ningún lado. Hay aquellos que traeremos al Año Nuevo con nosotros y los que dejaremos atrás.

Seamos honestos, todos hacemos en secreto una “Lista de Resoluciones de Año Nuevo,” ya sea en papel o en nuestros corazones, algunos incluso llegan a hacer una tabla de sueños. Comenzamos a anotar todas las cosas que queremos lograr en el Año Nuevo. Cosas como: la cantidad de peso que queremos perder o ganar, la promoción que queremos en el trabajo, volver a la escuela, mudarnos a un lugar nuevo, hasta el día en que conocemos a nuestro verdadero amor. Es bueno sentarse de vez en cuando y reflexionar sobre nuestras vidas para que podamos tener una visión clara del futuro. Sin embargo, no es hasta que estemos reflexionando sobre el año que va a terminar, que realmente podemos ver todo tan claramente, dándonos una vista 20/20. Mirar hacia adelante nos da otro año de oportunidad para ver la mano de Dios una vez más trabajando – haciendo lo imposible posible, convirtiendo nuestras penas en alegría, eliminando nuestros planes solo para reemplazarlos con lo mejor de los Suyos. Un Año Nuevo con vista 20/20 comienza con un Dios que ya tiene un plan perfecto, para darnos un futuro y una esperanza. Es posible que no comprendamos el camino que elegirá para nosotros en el próximo año, pero sabemos que la visión de Dios nunca es borrosa.

Denying Christ

How do we deny God with our lives?

We have the example of Peter when he denied Christ three times using his words, but what about when we give our hearts to Christ but then fail to let Him change our lives. Years later we are still exactly the way we were when we first accepted His invitation to join the royal family. We want the benefits of knowing Christ but we do not want the vulnerability that comes along with allowing HIm into ever area of our lives. There are many people in this world living a double life. By failing to let Christ into our marriages, jobs, family, social life, our thoughts, we are denying Him. We also deny Christ by allowing the weight of this world to be bigger than He is. Like fear, doubt, worry, past experience, we allow these things to hold us back, denying the fact that our God is bigger and has overcame it all. Therefore giving a false testimony of who He is. God says in His word: you will know His children by their fruits. When we choose to trust God and live from the testimony of the Holy Spirit and not our feelings, we give God the power to be who He says He is and make the necessary changes in us. So our lives can be a witness to those around us. In other words without using words we allow our lives to glorify him instead of denying Him. We have a saying: preach at all times and when necessary use words. This should be our lives. Do people around you know that you are a Christian? Or does your life conduct seem to imitate those around you rather than what Christ has done in you?

Negando A Cristo

Tales personas afirman que conocen a Dios, pero lo niegan con su manera de vivir.-

Cómo negamos a Dios con nuestras vidas?

Tenemos el ejemplo de Pedro cuando negó a Cristo tres veces usando sus palabras, pero ¿qué pasa cuando le damos nuestros corazones a Cristo pero luego no lo dejamos cambiar nuestras vidas? Años más tarde seguimos exactamente como cuando aceptamos su invitación a unirse a la familia real. Queremos los beneficios de conocer a Cristo, pero no queremos la vulnerabilidad que conlleva permitirle entrar en cualquier área de nuestras vidas. Hay muchas personas en este mundo que viven una doble vida. Al no dejar que Cristo entre en nuestros matrimonios, trabajos, familia, vida social, nuestros pensamientos, lo estamos negando. También negamos a Cristo al permitir que el peso de este mundo sea más grande de lo que Él es. Al igual que el miedo, la duda, la preocupación, la experiencia pasada, permitimos que estas cosas nos detengan, negando el hecho de que nuestro Dios es más grande y lo ha superado todo. Por lo tanto, dar un falso testimonio de quién es Él. Dios dice en su palabra: conocerás a sus hijos por sus frutos. Cuando elegimos confiar en Dios y vivir del testimonio del Espíritu Santo y no de nuestros sentimientos, le damos a Dios el poder de ser quien Él dice que es y hacer los cambios necesarios en nosotros. Entonces nuestras vidas pueden ser testigos de quienes nos rodean. En otras palabras, sin usar palabras, permitimos que nuestras vidas lo glorifiquen en lugar de negarlo. Tenemos un dicho: predica en todo momento y cuando sea necesario usa palabras. Esta debería ser nuestra vida.
¿La gente a tu alrededor sabe que eres cristiano? ¿O la conducta de tu vida parece imitar a los que te rodean en lugar de lo que Cristo ha hecho en ti?

Living Stones

When building a stone wall, each piece must be selected carefully and placed just right so that it will be able to support the next stone to be laid. Each piece is different, some are big and some not so big. Some are smooth and some are rough. Then there are smaller stones used to wedge in between the bigger stones to secure the wall. Remove one and the whole structure could fall apart.

I am pretty sure we have all heard that the body of Christ is made up of many members. In 1 Peter 2:5 God calls us His living stones. God is making a place for Himself. He is working in each of us to mold us and shape us, to take us and add us to His dwelling place. Each piece has been carefully hand picked by Him and placed exactly where it needs to be. God made Jesus Christ the living cornerstone to the church but we are the living stones that are being added daily to His spiritual temple. We think of stones as something without life but God says we are “LIVING” stones. We are the stones that will cry out Abba and shout His praises. We are the stones that will sing of His glory and testify of His work in our lives. His word says “he who puts their trust in God will NOT be disgraced”. No matter where you have been, no matter what you have done, God has carefully chosen you. He has a place for you, you are not forgotten, you are loved.

4 You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. 5 And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. -1 Peter 2: 4a-5a (NLT)

Piedras Vivas

Al construir un muro de piedra, cada pieza debe seleccionarse cuidadosamente y colocarse de manera correcta para que pueda soportar la siguiente piedra que se colocará. Cada pieza es diferente, algunas son grandes y otras no tan grandes. Algunos son suaves y otros son ásperos. Luego hay piedras más pequeñas que se utilizan para encajar entre las piedras más grandes para asegurar la pared. Retire uno y toda la estructura podría desmoronarse.

Estoy bastante seguro de que todos hemos escuchado que el cuerpo de Cristo está formado por muchos miembros. En 1 Pedro 2:5 Dios nos llama sus piedras vivas. Dios está haciendo un lugar para sí mismo. Él está trabajando en cada uno de nosotros para moldearnos y darnos forma, para llevarnos y agregarnos a su morada. Cada pieza ha sido cuidadosamente seleccionada por Él y colocada exactamente donde debe estar. Dios hizo a Jesucristo la piedra angular viva de la iglesia, pero nosotros somos las piedras vivas que se agregan diariamente a su templo espiritual. Pensamos en las piedras como algo sin vida, pero Dios dice que somos piedras “VIVAS”. Somos las piedras que clamarán a Abba y gritarán sus alabanzas. Somos las piedras que cantarán de Su gloria y testificarán de Su obra en nuestras vidas. Su palabra dice “el que confía en Dios NO será deshonrado”. No importa dónde hayas estado, no importa lo que hayas hecho, Dios te ha elegido cuidadosamente. Él tiene un lugar para ti, no eres olvidado, eres amado.

Where Does Your Confidence and Assurance Lie?

Recently the life group I am in took on a challenge I have done many times in my own life. The 30/30 challenge but with a slight change, we are doing the 15/30 challenge. You take 15 mins a day to spend time in God’s word. You can do other stuff in that time like listen to worship music, a preaching, write in a journal, pray but you must read the word and meditate on it for a few minutes. The object is to get more into our word so we can put ourselves in a position to hear God speak. Scripture says ” So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17 NKJV ). That word propels us to step out in faith believing that God hears us when we pray and will do the work needed. See its not what we pray for that gives us hope but to whom we pray. We need to know the God of the Bible, the God we call Father. A lot of times when we pray we are so focused on what we are praying about that in the midst of our prayers we can find ourselves getting discouraged just thinking of how those things will ever be possible. Or we get stressed just thinking what it is going to take to accomplish those goals or get out of that particular situation. The verse we chose in the life group in this challenge is Hebrews 11:1, an oldy but goody. Sometimes when we pray for those we love or things dearest to our hearts we leave the prayer feeling defeated but I want to encourage you today to challenge yourself to read God’s word. Get to know Him and His heart, so that your faith can be awakened and when your faith is awakened you can leave your worries and fears at the feet of Jesus. Because Faith gives us confidence in whom we pray to not what we pray about and Hope gives us assurance that all we have prayed for God is already doing the work in. Confidence and Assurance are trademarks of your Faith!!

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. –Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)

¿Dónde radica su confianza y seguridad?

Recientemente, el grupo de vida en el que estoy, asumió un desafío que he hecho muchas veces en mi propia vida. El desafío 30/30 pero con un ligero cambio, estamos haciendo el desafío 15/30. Tomas 15 minutos al día para pasar tiempo en la palabra de Dios. Puede hacer otras cosas en ese momento, cómo escuchar música de adoración, una predicación, escribir en un diario, orar, pero debe leer la palabra y meditar en ella durante unos minutos. El objetivo es entrar más en nuestra palabra para que podamos ponernos en posición de escuchar a Dios hablar. Las Escrituras dicen: “Así que la fe viene como resultado de oír el mensaje, y el mensaje que se oye es la palabra de Cristo” (Romanos 10:17 NKJV). Esa palabra nos impulsa a dar un paso en la fe creyendo que Dios nos escucha cuando oramos y haremos el trabajo necesario. Mira, no es lo que oramos por lo que nos da esperanza, sino a quién oramos. Necesitamos conocer al Dios de la Biblia, el Dios que llamamos Padre. Muchas veces, cuando oramos, estamos tan centrados en lo que estamos orando que, en medio de nuestras oraciones, podemos desanimarnos solo de pensar en cómo esas cosas serán posibles. O nos estresamos simplemente pensando en lo que se necesitará para lograr esos objetivos o salir de esa situación en particular. El versículo que elegimos en el grupo de vida en este desafío es Hebreos 11: 1, antiguo pero bueno. A veces, cuando oramos por aquellos que amamos o por las cosas más queridas en nuestros corazones, dejamos la oración sintiéndonos derrotados, pero hoy quiero animarlos a desafiarse a sí mismos a leer la Palabra de Dios. Conózcalo a Él y a Su corazón, para que su fe pueda despertarse y cuando su fe se despierte, usted pueda dejar sus preocupaciones y temores a los pies de Jesús. Porque la fe nos da confianza en quién rezamos, no en lo que oramos, y la esperanza nos da la seguridad de que todo lo que hemos orado por Dios ya está haciendo el trabajo. ¡La Confianza y La Seguridad son marcas registradas de su Fe!

Ahora bien, la fe es la garantía de lo que se espera, y la certeza de lo que no se ve. -Hebreos 11: 1 (NVI)
